Jonathan Salthouse brought years of electrical experience with him when he came back to his home town from England, having already worked as a professional electrician back in England. After settling in South Africa, he continued his career working for an established electrical company while building his knowledge of the local industry.

Along the way, Jonathan met Zachary van den Berg — a skilled plumber, entrepreneur and website builder with a passion for creating businesses from the ground up. Their friendship quickly turned into a partnership of ideas, combining practical trade experience with business, technology and a vision for something bigger.

They later joined forces with Jason Spooner, whose intelligence, people skills and exceptional approach to customer care brought another important piece to the puzzle. Jason Spooner understood that a great business isn’t only about the work — it’s about how you treat people, build relationships and make customers feel like part of the family.

Together, the three of them decided to turn Jonathan’s electrical experience and their combined skills into something of their own.

And so, Salty Sparks was born.
